Rush Limbaugh: Leader of the Republican Party?

The Democrats are up to their old tactics in new ways. The last couple days everywhere you turn there is a liberal espousing how Rush Limbaugh is the leader of the Republican Party. Why now? Rush has been doing the same thing year-after-year for more than twenty years; and now all-of-a-sudden, he’s the leader of the Republican Party. Not; though many us might wish that he was!

Michael Steele is the Chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), which is the recognized leadership, for better or worse, of the Republican Party. No doubt there are plenty of us--me included--who agree with most of what Mr. Limbaugh says, and I dare say wish that more of our elected so-called Republicans would agree with and support the same with their votes. In my estimation, the RNC has not done much to improve the status of the Republican Party in recent years. They need to stop trying to find the middle of the road while cow-towing to the Democrats and take a stand for conservative principals!

Unfortunately, that isn't the case. I would go as far as to say many Republicans in Congress think they need to distance themselves from Mr. Limbaugh (at least publically) so as not to appear too far right. I believe they have come to fear the Democrats ability to slander them with accusations of being racist, greedy, war mongers who have no compassion for the low income, under-employed, unemployed, and otherwise less fortunate citizens of America. Instead of standing up to the lies and deceitful accusations the Democrats spew on every possible occasion, they run for cover and try to appear “bi-partisan”. Phooey on bi-partisanship. The Democrats think bi-partisanship is a one way street—agree with them or they’ll run you over and make you look like an obstructionist for not voting they way they want you to. In my 40 or so years of following politics, I would venture to say the Republican Party has done much more for all Americans, poor and/or rich, than the Democratic Party. By the way, President Abraham Lincoln, of whom there has been much ado lately, was elected as a Republican and served as a Republican throughout his Presidency. Hello!? Is anybody out there?

The Republican leadership needs desperately to find a way to rally the Republican base and convince all Americans that the answer to our economic woes does not lie within the federal government and certainly not in President Obama’s alleged stimulus package.

Illegal Immigrants - Is there an End in Sight

I was just looking back at some of my previous posts and noticed the first bolg I wrote on illegal immigration is dated over two years ago(2005). And that was well after many Americans began to question the lack of attention being given to the problem by our politicians. It was long after grave concerns were being expressed by most Americans about the lack of security at our borders. And here we are nearing the 9th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and still very little has been done to address the problem.

In pure congressional fashion our politicians drafted a bill to address immigration reform in 2006, and wouldn't you know, they were listening to the minority when they decided what should be done to fix the problem. Give them all amnesty. This is where I had to part ways with the Bush administrations' thinking. In most part I supported President Bush, but I think he lost his way when thinking amnesty is the answer. President Reagan granted amnesty to illegal aliens in the 1980's thinking the illegal alien laws would be enforced thereby ending the problem. Well, it was a humanitarian effort but it didn't work.

Financing the Terrorist Movement -- The Inside Story

In my view, Bob Simon and CBS News, and indeed, Hassan Butt, showed considerable courage in airing the interview, which 60 Minutes has apparently removed, of Butt regarding his former involvement as a solicitor of funds to finance the Islamic Jihad. It is commendable that CBS News strayed from the typical main stream news media practice of making America out to be the “bad guy” instead of the terrorists.

The truth about terrorist tactics and motives must be told, and there is probably only one in 100 stories of the evil of Jihad and terrorists like this one that actually make the news. Worse, the typical news media story tells about how “x” number of American and allied troops were killed today in a fashion that is more apt to make one wonder why we’re there instead of reminding us of the obvious ― the future of freedom, ours and others, is in serious jeopardy and taking the fight to them is better than fighting it on American soil, which is not to say that we won’t be attacked when the opportunity strikes.

Nancy Pelosi and John Murtha, and most other Democrats, are making absolute fools of themselves with their attempts to thwart the war effort in Iraq and their determined effort to set a cast-in-stone deadline for a troop pull-out. Even though they’re Democrats, they’re not stupid (are they?), but they must think the average American is pretty stupid (and some must be) to think the terrorists are going to just go away.

The jihad has been on the offensive for at least the last three decades ― not to mention the ancient religious wars ― with no less than 26 attacks between 1979 and 2003. And this doesn’t include the almost daily attacks on American and allied troops in Iraq and around the world.

War is terrible. War is heart breaking, especially for the family, loved ones and friends of the unfortunate but brave hero’s who make the ultimate sacrifice. What we must not forget is freedom is not free. Our forefathers made unbelievable sacrifices to gain our freedom and independence in 1776. There have been wars since and there will be wars to come. It’s inevitable. What we need as a nation is the continued determination andresolve to do whatever is necessary to maintain our freedom and help promote freedom and civil rights throughout the world. The future of freedom ― everyone’s freedom ― depends on it.

NO on Proposition 82

Proposition 82 proponents would have Californians believe that the answer to better education for our children is to get them into the classroom earlier. Why should we believe they can do any better with 4 year old children than they can with K-12 children? The poor performance of our schools (you notice I said schools and not students) is not because students need to start a year earlier; it is because the schools need to do a better job of educating the student while they're in the classroom. Sorry, but the argument that students would perform at a higher level if they started their so-called formal education at 4 (preschool) instead of 5 (kindergarten) holds no water — none at all!

According to recent published reports there are at least 50,000 seniors who are in jeopardy of not graduating because they cannot pass the exit exam. Now folks, you must understand that the exit exam tests at the freshman (9th grade) level. They don't administer the first test until the sophomore year, and they can re-take the test three or more times until they pass it (or not). My sophomore daughter passed it her first try, and I would consider her an academically average student. What's the deference between her and the 50,000 who have failed the test multiple times? She studies. She does her homework. She puts forth the effort necessary to succeed.

The reason most of the students not passing the exit exam have failed is lack of effort, lack of desire, lack of discipline, and lack of proper parental guidance. The teacher's union and their supporters blame it on lack of money in the classroom. I've heard that story for the last 40 years, and in that 40 years there have been times when the legislature has passed tax increases that satisfy the funding demands for schools and it didn't seem to make any difference whatsoever in student performance. The blame falls somewhere else — with California's education system. I want to know where are the media reports slamming the education community for not making the grade. They are non-existent or there is some short two paragraph article that gets buried deep in the paper — once. Another example of proof the news media supports the liberal agenda to the fullest regardless of whether it's good or bad; right or wrong. They won't expose the truth about why our schools are failing our children.

If the truth be known, Proposition 82 may well be just another attempt by the liberals to get access to our children at an earlier age so they can start the social engineering of our children earlier. It's no secret that teachers push a liberal social agenda in our classrooms. I have personally seen this in schools my children have attended. I have even met with teachers and principals in an effort to stop them from teaching, indeed pushing, their liberal political and social agenda on my children. I believe children are in school to learn academics — reading, writing, math, science, and how to interact with others in a social setting. Our education system allows teachers to take "getting along with others" to a whole new level of social instruction. I have news for them, I reserve the right to provide social and political teaching to my children. Every parent should. It is too important to leave to someone who's views you don't know, may not support, or may even strongly oppose. This is true regardless of ones position on social and political matters.

I urge you to vote NO on Proposition 82. Make them prove they can be trusted to successfully educate our K-12 children first.

Torture in Darfur

Recently a friend wrote a blog complaining about the alleged torture of suspected and/or known terrorists being held in Guantanamo. He further described an incident where a prisoner was bound, had a hood covering his head and was held by a dog, thereby suffering from fear. What, fear of the dark? Fear of the dog? He further criticized the United States and referenced the UN Commission Against Torture as a "scathing indictment of recent US policy".

There are many governments torturing their own citizens and the UN seems helpless to do anything about it, and, moreover, doesn't seem too terribly concerned. But there are certain member nations — unfriendly to the United States, of course — that routinely and deliberately torture, indeed murder, their citizens for a number of reasons; usually to gain or remain in power. And even at the urging of the US and its allies to take measures to prevent it, they seem to be satisfied with sweeping it under the rug. Darfur is just such a place.

What about the torture taking place in Darfur? Beawitness.org states, "Genocide is the ultimate crime against humanity. And a government-backed genocide is unfolding in the Darfur region of the Sudan. As the horror in Darfur continues, our major television news networks are largely missing in action."

Many put much faith in the ability of the UN to right the wrongs of nations violating human and civil rights, but more than 180,000 citizens have died (been murdered) and more than 2.5 million displaced from their homes (more like tents) by the Sudanese government. Scaring a terrorist with a dog is a far cry from the torture and murder of the citizens of Darfur. Where is the public demand on the UN Security Council over Darfur? Has the UN lost its effectiveness in controlling and/or ceasing atrocities by governments on its citizens? Was it ever effective?

Where is the public demand on the UN to address the issue of terrorism and the attempt to build nuclear weapons in Iran? How about the recent pact between Iran and Syria, both known for their support of terrorism and hatred of America and its allies?

Can't terrorism be considered a form of torture? The fact that we haven't suffered another 9/11-like attack is not for the lack of desire. It is because of the heightened awareness and preventative actions of the agencies that protect us from such attacks. But if the liberal democrats and ALCU had their way, we wouldn't be incarcerating these terrorist's or attempting to monitor overseas calls to regions suspected of terrorist activity. No, we would be laying down our weapons, bringing our troops home, sending all the incarcerated terrorists back home to commit more terrorist acts and begging them to "play nice". In case your memory is fading about the events of 9/11,
view several CNN video clips here.

Oh, and by the way, we'll pay any price you want for your oil, because the environmentalist's in America own our government and they won’t let us drill for any more; not to mention that we haven’t built a refinery in about 30 years.

I have a great deal of difficulty conjuring up the same sympathy or empathy for a known or suspected terrorist being scared by a dog as I have for the 9/11 victims and their families. All of them were innocent people going about their daily lives. God rest their souls.

Bias in the News

Another example of bias in the news has appeared (surprise, surprise!) on the KCRA TV news channel and web site today. I'm not singling out KCRA; most major national news media are guilty of the same thing hundreds of times over everyday. The police investigation so far has determined that the suspect, Eugene Gallegos, Jr., tried to run down a police officer responding to an armed robbery report. Witnesses claim the suspect was accelerating toward the officer and the officer jumped on to the head of the suspect’s car to avoid being pinned between a squad car and the suspect’s vehicle. However, KCRA news reporter Mike TeSelle, while failing to report the results of the investigation and trying to turn the incident into a case of police doing something wrong, focuses on the mother's remarks of doubt that the police officer had justification for defending himself.

First, while the mother, Michelle Andrade, was being interviewed, she didn't show any signs of grief, no tears, nothing. Oh, she tried her best to sound grief stricken. She said, “My son was terrific, man; my son was great. I thank God that He gave me my son in my life. I thank God. My love for my son and my son’s love for me, was just totally (pause) I thank God for giving me my son.” Watch the video and judge for yourself how grief stricken this mother is (isn’t). But this really doesn’t speak to the question of whether Mr. Gallegos is at fault. What is more to the point can be found in Ms. Andrade’s admitting that her son was not a saint; by Sacramento Police Chief Albert Najera commenting, "There's no doubt in my mind that the driver of that vehicle intended to kill the officer. All of our investigation thus far supports that statement as well." What’s more, two of the car’s occupants fled the scene after the shooting. Hmmm, let me see now. They were so afraid for their lives they decided to make a run for it. No, innocent people don’t run from the law. Criminals run from the law.

Then Mr. TeSelle asks, ”…do you think it’s at all justified?” And Ms. Andrade answers, “No, it’s not; no it’s not justified. I don’t know (pause) there’s a lot I don’t know still.” Which begs the question, which is it? They weren’t justified, or you don’t know?

This is a glaring example of the news media playing to the “bleeding hearts” to create something more sensational for their news report, quoting someone as allegedly calling it a “Hollywood style shooting”, but failing to name the person making the quote. For all we know it could have been a by-stander who watches too many violent TV shows and gets reality confused with fiction. But, gee, anything Hollywood seems to get a lot of attention these days, what with shows like Entertainment Tonight, E! News and so–on. Often these stories are created and sensationalized to try and grow their viewing audience. But more often than not these type stories paint the policemen and deputy sheriff's as the bad guys, when in fact; it’s almost always the opposite. Deputy Sheriff’s and Police Officer’s put their lives on the line each and every day. And as a law abiding citizen I thank God and them for doing it. They know the streets, and they know who the bad guys are; which is more than I can say for many news reporters.

The community would be better served if the media provided more coverage on the growing crime rate in the Sacramento area. Just in the last week there have been, multiple murders, armed robberies, home invasion robberies, auto thefts and robber’s grabbing purses from women, physically assaulting one of them before fleeing. Every night there are new stories about violent crimes and the news media focuses on the poor mistreated suspect instead of the violated victims and the need for measures to reduce the crime rate. Do you notice anything wrong with this picture? I do, and I hope the main stream citizen does, or we’re in for some rough but predictable times ahead.

Re-activated the Comments Setting on my Blog

Well, I may have found a way to prevent unwanted comments on my blog by setting "Word Verification" to yes. We'll see if I get any unwanted comments (advertisements).

I have been invited -- and have accepted -- to join the "Four Views" blog. Some friends and I have often had discussions (mostly about political views on various subjects), and one of our group decided to start a shared blog so we have a forum to share our views with whoever wishes to read them. You may find our comments interesting and we invite others to read them. We always have friendly discussions, even though our views are often at opposite ends of the political spectrum, so don't expect any personal attacks or bashing. And, please don't include any personal attacks or bashing if you decide to post any comments. Happy blogging!

Comments

I regret to say I have found it necessary to hide comments from readers because some have thought it was okay to leave advertisements instead of actual comments to my posts.

lucysmith9488 claiming to be with Tip Top Equities left a rather long post. If anyone else finds her(?) leaving ads on their site, I recommend notifying the Administrators of this site and maybe they can find a way of preventing these type unwanted comments. I wish I could delete it, but I haven't yet found a way.

On a different note...I have not posted in some time and I apologize. I wanted to be more attentive and found it takes more time than I thought. I will try to get better, honest.
