Shelley Resigns, Finaly!
Well, all I can say is it's about time. He should have resigned long before now. And, give me a break! Does he really expect us to believe his statement that none of the wrong doing he did was for self gain??? What kind of promises do you think the Democrats made to coerce him into taking such a career risk? Are they naive enough to believe that his actions would never be found out?
Knowing what I do about the political planning process, I feel certain they rehearsed every scenario before making any moves. So that brings into question their integrity and ethics. Of course, most Republicans can cite incident after incident of questionable ethics and integrity shown by most Democrats. But I digress.
Fabian Nunez (D), California State Assembly Speaker, states that the investigation should end once Shelley resigns. I say, hogwash! They should continue the investigation full steam ahead and, if (when) found guilty, prosecute Shelley to the fullest extent of the law. Moreover, those who knew about the misappropriation of funds and aided in his plan should be prosecuted. This is a clear case of fraudulent use of public funds. Since when do we let criminals go free for their crimes? Is Speaker Nunez afraid his name will surface during the investigation? I would not be at all surprised to find out he was smack in the middle of it all. What would be Speaker Nunez's position if it was a Republican who misused the funds? Hmm, let me think. Does the name Chuck Quackenbush come to mind? The Democrats — and then State Attorney General Bill Lockyer — sunk their teeth into him like a bull dog, and never let go. The State Assembly should do no less with Shelley. By the way, where has the local major newspaper weighed in on this? I hesistate to give their name as I would not want to promote their liberal rag of a so-called newspaper.
