Rush Limbaugh: Leader of the Republican Party?
The Democrats are up to their old tactics in new ways. The last couple days everywhere you turn there is a liberal espousing how Rush Limbaugh is the leader of the Republican Party. Why now? Rush has been doing the same thing year-after-year for more than twenty years; and now all-of-a-sudden, he’s the leader of the Republican Party. Not; though many us might wish that he was!
Michael Steele is the Chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), which is the recognized leadership, for better or worse, of the Republican Party. No doubt there are plenty of us--me included--who agree with most of what Mr. Limbaugh says, and I dare say wish that more of our elected so-called Republicans would agree with and support the same with their votes. In my estimation, the RNC has not done much to improve the status of the Republican Party in recent years. They need to stop trying to find the middle of the road while cow-towing to the Democrats and take a stand for conservative principals!
Unfortunately, that isn't the case. I would go as far as to say many Republicans in Congress think they need to distance themselves from Mr. Limbaugh (at least publically) so as not to appear too far right. I believe they have come to fear the Democrats ability to slander them with accusations of being racist, greedy, war mongers who have no compassion for the low income, under-employed, unemployed, and otherwise less fortunate citizens of America. Instead of standing up to the lies and deceitful accusations the Democrats spew on every possible occasion, they run for cover and try to appear “bi-partisan”. Phooey on bi-partisanship. The Democrats think bi-partisanship is a one way street—agree with them or they’ll run you over and make you look like an obstructionist for not voting they way they want you to. In my 40 or so years of following politics, I would venture to say the Republican Party has done much more for all Americans, poor and/or rich, than the Democratic Party. By the way, President Abraham Lincoln, of whom there has been much ado lately, was elected as a Republican and served as a Republican throughout his Presidency. Hello!? Is anybody out there?
The Republican leadership needs desperately to find a way to rally the Republican base and convince all Americans that the answer to our economic woes does not lie within the federal government and certainly not in President Obama’s alleged stimulus package.
